The First St. John Car Show

The first ever St. John Car Show will start on Saturday at the St. John Lutheran Church parking area in 7214 Cass Avenue. This is an event that a car fanatic should never miss. The said show will start from 8am to 3pm with 60-70 cars are expected to join this Car Show. The show coordinator said that they made this event to help and support one of the well-known members of St. John family, Shami the Comfort Dog.

Shami is a 2 year old golden retriever that is trained to be a good friend, spread little joy to the people and to provide peace and comfort. And also they have noticed that there are many people having tough times today. This car show may be the reason to have fun in the community. As Swatson said, “I’m looking forward to the place being full of wonderful cars and people walking around and having a good time”. Aside from the different cars, the congregation member also prepared some foods like hotdogs. A music powered by Platinum Events and Promotions is also present – enjoying the music while having a good time watching different display of cars in the area. They also give prizes and raffles as some of the local businesses have donated for the event such as a $60 gift basket from Culvers, $35 in Buona Beef gift cards and a gift basket from Avon. There are eight prizes that will be given in the show including the Pastor’s Choice and Best of Show Awards. The event is for free, no entrance fee but there is a $10 entry fee for participating cars.

Fastest Car in C-Class – C63 AMG Coupe Black Series

Mercedes Benz has revealed the fastest car in its C-Class named the C63 AMG Coupe Black Series. This is the fourth series model since 2006 but now it has exceptional boost compare to the old model. The new C63 was revealed during the Formula One German Grand Prix with an intensifying power of 380 kW using a V8 engine. The said model is considered as the most powerful in the German car maker’s volume-selling range. A pinch from the standard 6.2 liter V8 C63 to increase the power which gains new control unit and phony pistons, connecting rods and lightweight crankshaft that comes from the SLS Gullwing supercar. C63 AMG Coupe Black Series can sprint from 0-100 km/hr at about 4.2 seconds, trimming two tenths of a second from the previous C63 enough to become the fastest car in C-Class. Aside from its killer power-train, they also improve some of its parts such as the much bigger air intakes and brakes, larger oil cooler, rear locking differential, adjustable suspension, wider front and rear axles and a dual clutch gearbox that can change gears in just 100 milliseconds. When it comes to the interior, the new C63 features bucket seats for driver and passenger with carbon fiber trim and a steering wheel that is motivated from an F1 with flattened top and bottom sections.

Test Drive of the 2013 Lexus GS Prototype

The 2013 Lexus GS Prototype is having its test drive as they will start selling early next year and the production car’s styling of this model has not yet been revealed. On the driver seat you will see the improvement of dashboard, a 12.3 inches widescreen LCD with a more elegant and lavish materials. A mouse type controller is the one who controlled the screen. When it comes to the specs under the hood, the new Lexus GS will be equipped with a 3.5 liter V6 six speed automatic engine. As far as the transmission calibration is concern, the car developer said that the development is still in progress.

The interior has an outstanding system that adds comfort to every passenger as well as the driver. You will hear less impact noise, less chassis flex over bumps and you will notice the big improvement with it comes to its rigidity. Compare to the system before, it is now quicker, slightly heavier and more natural. The new GS is having the Lexus Dynamic Handling System got even better. Italian Police Force Receives Lotus Evora S

A British car manufacturer, Lotus builds sports and racing cars which has remarkable design with good concept and performance. Lotus have shared their one their new models the Evora S to the Italian Military Police Force. This police force is also known as Carabinieri or the Italian Arma dei Carabinieri which is a division of the army charged with civilian duties. As part of the 150 years of the Unification of Italy, these two units are presented by the company to serve in Rome and Milan. Under the hood of an Evora S have competitive specs such as the 3.5 liters V6 engine with a power rating of 345bhp. This supercharged engine is coupled with a six speed manual transmission system and has the ability to dash on the road from 0-100 km/hr at about 4.6 seconds. This car features a double wishbone suspension and with a maximum speed of 277 km/hr. Aside from its power-train, Evora S has these exclusive features that could fit for police duty such as a special portable refrigerated compartment behind the front seat which can be used for any medical emergency. It is also equipped with an advanced voice recognition technology and the enhanced vehicle automation system.

Locust Grove Car Show – Unique Classic Cars

Lots of different historic cars are at the Locust Grove for the Locust Grove Car Show. There are more than 200 cars in the event and these cars are remarkable vintage car like the 1913 Fiat built in Poughkeepsie with a blue color, a maroon 1915 Hudson 6-54 and a 1916 white Pierce-Arrow Model 38. There is also a Ford Model T’s and a reinstated 1924 model in the display area brought by Doug Stanford. He is a mechanic by trade who owns 6 Model T’s which one them converted into a snowmobile. He took 3 tears to restore his first car and hoping that someday he can start a restoration business. One of the residents of Poughkeepsie, Chuck Mitchell who’s been 51 years in car restoration brought a 1953 Buick Skylark convertible and a 1942 Packard Super 8 convertible. A 1969 L78 Chevrolet Yenko Camaro colored in burnished brown is also present in the show. This car model is honored at the National Car Shows which is owned by a private collector. Other vintage car that is also recognized by it restoration work is the 1969 Chevrolet Yenko Camaro.

Beat the Heat – Guidelines in Maintaining a Car during summer

Weather is one of the factors that can affect the engine of a vehicle. Most of the people considered winter season can affect heavily to the cars but summer is also a killer season in terms of the engine life span. These are some procedures and preventive measures in dealing your engines during summer season.

COOL ENGINE

During summer, engines work hard while its cooling system will do their job in keeping your engine not to overheat specially in long road trips. This system has additives that protect the radiator and internal engine parts against wear and corrosions. Sometimes you need to put your engine a mixture of water and coolant type just to ensure your engine not to overheat in the middle of a trip. But be sure that when you do this it is recommended by the car maker.

CAR FLUIDS

To maintain the good performance of your car specially the engine, it is important to put engine fluids. Fluids like motor oil, transmission fluid, power steering fluid and brake fluid. These fluid will help carry out the heat from critical components as well as they also serves as lubricant and coolant.

BATTERY CHECK

Two of the worst enemies of batteries are heat and vibration which can cause internal breakdown and ultimate failure. Too much heat can cause battery fluid to evaporate and this can be the reason on having corrosive terminals and connection. Be sure that the cable clamps are clean and tight enough that they won’t move.

New Maruti Suzuki Swift in Indian Market on August 17, 2011

The time has come for the new for the new Maruti Suzuki Swift. This one of the most anticipated cars of the year will be launched on August 17 at the Indian Market. It is expected to have 6 options which is more than an option compare to the current version. This new option is called the ZDi model will feature airbags into the equation for the top end diesel model and a rear defogger. There are many features that a car enthusiast can discover and enjoy in the new Swift. It is obviously lots of new things to offer compare to the current versions, these are the automatic climate control, push button start, 15 inch alloy wheels, and electrically adjustable outer rear view mirrors and turn indicators on the rear mirrors.

 

The new Maruti Suzuki Swift is also more lightweight as it uses plastic unit in the fuel tank instead of metal unit. They did this because Maruti found out that the weight saving measures helps to have a more fuel efficient at about 15%. The new Swift has an expected fuel consumption of 20 km/liter for Petrol and 23.8 km/liter for diesel. The dual variable valve timing helps the new Swift Petrol to be more fuel efficient, great engine boost and responsiveness.

Volvo S80 T5 as the New Flagship Model

Volvo’s flagship models in Malaysia the S80 2.5T has been replaced to the all new Volvo S80 T5. The new model will offer two variants, the S80 T5 Powershift and the T5 Exclusive Powershift.

The two models are packed with full features such as the Blind Spot Information System, ABS, EBD, EBA, SIPS, WHIPS, IDIS and DSTC right into Ready Alert Brake and Fading Brake Support. The new vibrant chassis is applied in this car with fresh design features and the interior is using leather in grey with cross brushed aluminum inlays while the exclusive type is using a grey/beige mix, with classic wood decor inlays, the last also to be found on the gearshift and steering wheel. In addition, exclusive entertainment systems are also present like eight-speaker audio system six-CD in-dash changer, Bluetooth connectivity and two rear sockets for headsets.

Under the hood, T5 is equip with a 4-cylinder 2.0 liter turbocharged mill which can achieve a power output of 240 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and a torque of 320 Nm at 1,800 – 5,000 rpm. Fantastic Cars Excel in Vernal Car Show

One of the biggest annual car shows on Dinaland history was celebrated with 125 cars in the display area which comes from different places like Roosevelt, Vernal, California, Colorado and Wyoming. One of the participants named Chipita Rowley form Roosevelt brought her 2010 Chevy Camaro. This car has tremendous specs under its hood, 6.2 liter engine with a power output of 422 horsepower. Her car received the “Best of the 1990’s and Newer” award which she receive in 2 consecutive years as she receive also a “Mayor’s Choice” trophy last year. She painted her car with a green color stripes in memory of his son Daniel, whose favorite color was green.

Other awards was also given like the “Best Ford” received by Jack Seitz from Vernal for his 1929 Model A. “Best of 1920s” was given to Mike Mahoney from Vernal for his 1924 Cadillac Limousine. “Best of 1940s” and “Best of 1960s” were given to Bill Hall and Marvin Bozarth for their 1948 Plymouth Coupe and 1966 Ford Galaxy. Jo Gardiner and Dwayne Allan as their 1970 Plymouth Road Runner GTX and 1982 Chevy Truck was awarded as the “Best of 1970s” and “Best of 1980s”. The 1972 Plymouth Duster and 1937 Chevy Erratic Custom of Leon Roush and Mike Ferrira were awarded as the “Best Mopar” and “Best of Show”.
