6th Annual Cherry Car and Motorcycle Show

The Beaumont Kiwanis Club had their 6th Annual Cherry Car and Motorcycle show last May 28 at the Stewart Park which attended by many car enthusiasts. A 1951 Chevrolet Sedan is present in that event which brought by Larry Waltz and Kevin Ball’s orange 1935 Ford coupe with an artistic design, purple and green flames. Other members also brought their own classic cars such as 1938 Ford Pick-Up by Sam and June Teresa. Liza and Mike Jacobson had brought their two vintage cars, 1968 Chevy Pick-up and a 1922 Ford Model T. And they mentioned that their Tin Lizzie is a safe car in the road as it has only a top speed of 35 mph. It is a simple car with four cylinder flathead engine, axle rear end and low transmission thus this car could be rarely seen in the freeway. This is a version that ran on a gasoline and in 1922 model is only $300 which is shocking that some people sold it in $33,000 in a car auction. Different types of classic cars are in the display area, such as 1955 Ford Fairlane with white paint, the rare 1941 red Graham Hollywood, 1959 blue VW Beetle and the 1950’s Ford F100.

Limited Edition – Porsche 911 Turbo S China 10th Anniversary Edition

As Porsche celebrates their 1oth anniversary, they are proudly to present their latest and limited edition of car called the Porsche 911 Turbo S China 10th Anniversary Edition. It has features that are exclusive for this version and the gold color scheme in the interior and exterior adds to be better looking as well as all the other detail revisions. The carbon bonnet, rear spoiler, headlight surround and its bold gold exterior color will be a factor to become more noticeable by the customer. It is using a black 19-inch sports classic alloy wheel and you can see a carbon fiber highlight in the outer layer of the body.

The Porsche 911 Turbo S China 10th Anniversary Edition is equipped with variable-geometry 3.8 liter twin turbo engine with a power output of 390KW with a powerful torque of 700Nm. In just 3.3 seconds, the 911 Turbo S has the ability to dash from 0-100 km/hr. The interior is full of latest parts and designs that make it more elegant and comfortable such as the new Alcantara seats, Alcantara sport classic steering wheel and the exceptional stitching and logos. The company said that they will only develop 10 cars that will be on sale in China and it is expected to be purchased very fast. And also they are sure that in the near future, this car will be one of the rare and attractive vintage cars.

Toyota’s Social Networking System

In connection with this new generation, new technologies are hitting up the market rapidly same as the social networking sites that made every people connect to every part of the world with their love ones. Through the help of Salesforce.com and Microsoft, Toyota is developing a social networking service, same as people communicating on Facebook and Twitter – so the owners/driver can interact to their car. This system is called the Toyota Friend which maybe the start of the generation of talking cars. The said system is made only for Toyota owners which gives them extra comfort. Toyota demonstrate this one of a kind technology in their showroom, they use a Toyota Plug-in Prius Hybrid. When the owner plugs in the car to recharge it, the car replied “The charge will be completed by 2:15am, is that ok? See you tomorrow.” The conversation could be shared to another Toyota Friend user, Facebook, Twitter and other services. There are rumors that the system is run through sensors but the company did not give a full detail on how this technology built – content of the talking cars dialogue. The system will be first applied to electric cars and plug-in hybrid cars. The program is done through an open source cloud platform that could start in Japan in 2012.

Rev Up Auto Show

Most of the street rods and muscle cars that comes from Maritimes will be seen and displayed in the Annual Rev Up Auto Show which will be held at the Summerside’s Credit Union Place on the first weekend of June. For a change, the owner of Gearhead Kustoms in West Devon and at the same time the event organizer, John MacLean wants to have an indoor event so he decide to held the event at the Credit Union Place. The show is expecting to have 45 car owners which will showcase their different types of custom cars.

This event is through the benefit of the Stars for Life Foundation for Autism as the 17 year old son of MacLean is autistic. MacLean has wide experience in terms of custom cars, 5 years in custom industry gear for cars and industry. He has also a skill in paintwork to glass etching like drinking glasses to car windows. There will be some remarkable cars in the show which could be the highlight in the said event. These cars are Ferrari V-12 Testarossa and a local version of the General Lee. Cars that have been sitting in barns or garages for decades and have been restored to health are also present in the show; most people call it barn finds. The event is raised through the help of Gearhead Kustoms, the City of Summerside, Credit Union Place and Gary Steeves Insurance. Their will be a $5 admission fee which goes to the said foundation but free entrance to 10 years old and below, and the event will start at 12 to 5 p.m. in June 5.

Lampo3 Electric Sports Car Model in its First Appearance

After a couple of years Protoscar has finally unveil the Lampo3 electric sports car model. It is said to be a high-performance sports car and described as purpose-built prototype. Lampo3 is a lightweight car as it offers best quality and lightweight chassis. Power is no question on this sports car; it is equipped with 3 electric motors (2 on the rear axle and 1 on the front). These 3 motors will have a power output of 420KW or 560 horsepower with an overpowering torque of 664 lb-ft. The torque vector optimization gives the car a great improvement including its dynamic behavior. Source of the energy come from the 32KWH lithium-ion battery which has the capability to reach at a distance of 124 miles. This car has a top speed of 137 mph with the ability to dash from 0-62 mph at about 4.5 seconds. Though the prototype has already been launched but its production has not yet been set and planned. The company will develop a car that is environmental friendly and less energy consumption.

A Tribute to the Classic Sports Car – BMW 328

As a tribute to the 75th birthday of BMW 328, one of the most successful and good looking sports cars of BMW, the company unveiled their special model – BMW Hommage. This is a lightweight car because most of its parts are made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic that offers outstanding ratio between weight and stability. Its gross weight is only at about 780 kilograms. The design is very unique and you will notice its exterior specially the headlights and the huge carbon fiber X nose, it’s one of a kind. The twin elongated kidney grille set-up is the same as the BMW 328 and its windshield is divided into two.

 

Just like its predecessor, this is a two-seater sports car with expressive exterior design but the difference is it is made through a modern interpretation. The BMW Hommage is well-developed and detail-oriented; precise lines run across to the body of the car. The extremely wide and flat front end is strongly three-dimensional, generous surfaces and concise lines give the front end a powerful appearance. The concept is very impressive as it is based on the Efficient-Dynamic Concept giving a long bonnet and drawn back seating. The specifications and details of the BMW 328 Hommage have not yet been released but it is rumored that it uses a 3.0 liter straight six engine.

The technological improvements and software development brings every system in this generation to the next level. Ford is now developing a system that can detect or monitor the health of humans. With the help of health and medical companies, Ford researchers are trying their best to link and improved in-car systems to have the capability to scan human health. Through wireless technology such as bluetooth they have made a prototype that can synchronize glucose monitoring system and other allergies.

For glucose monitoring system, it is important for the people that has diabetes to know and monitor their glucose level as this may result to blurry vision and confusion that can cause accidents. In collaboration of Meditronic and Ford, they have made a device that has the ability to observe glucose level. The result will be displayed on the monitor and after checking, the online system will look for remedies. In terms of allergy system, they’ve made a device that can gather data on how much pollen around the car. This is a positive sign to all the people that has asthma and other respiratory illness.

The New Generation of Audi A6 Avant

Audi will release their latest car, the next generation of the Audi A6 Avant which is the most business class wagon in Europe. This car has less weight compare to its predecessors as 20% of the body are aluminum. The interior has also more space at about 565 liters and can be increased 1680 liters by folding the rear seats. The company gives an option as far as the engines are concern which offers direct fuel injection; 2 gasoline engine and 4 TDI units.

The A6 Avant is using either of this transmission: six speed manual, sporty seven speed S tronic, the continuously variable multitronic or the convenient eight speed tiptronic. There are a lot of new feature in this car like the new mechanical power steering and the dynamic driving system. Every part is contributing to have a more sporty look and excellent comfort. It is using a front wheel drive system but a quattro permanent all-wheel drive is also available as an option. Audi A6 offers great handling with the help of the SP electronic stabilization program featuring an electronic limited slip differential. This car also offers outstanding features such as he hard drive-based navigation system MMI navigation, Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System, online traffic information service, great internet feature with voice-controlled points of interest – special online services with the partnership of Google. Unveiling Wireless Electric Car Charging System

Most of the car manufacturers nowadays are developing electric cars, thus other companies are trying to have a well-improved charging system. With the great teamwork of the New Zealand start-up HaloIPT and international engineering firm Arup, the system is having its first appearance UK; allowing electric cars to charge while they parked on the pad.

The company is aiming to have this system on the roads, garages and car parks to have easy access when a electric car needs to be charged. Information and statistics will surely be one of the materials in analyzing the ways on how the consumer uses this kind of systems. As the Chief Executive of HaloIPT Anthony Thomson said that one day, electric cars can do charging while running/driving. In addition, he said that it is just the first stage of a future charging technology as most of the people are adopting electric cars. Having an active charging gives electric car a big lift; totally avoiding the “stop and charge” factor using cables.
